What is Pura Vida Traveling’s role in my transportation booking?
As a travel agency, we handle all your logistics by booking and organizing your flight with our partner airlines. We work with trusted airline in Costa Rica to find the flight that fits your needs. This means we coordinate your trip for a smooth experience but are not the actual transportation providers.
Who provides the transportation flight services?
Pura Vida Traveling partners with trusted airlines in Costa Rica. While we coordinate your transportation, these companies operate the flights and are responsible for it.
Where does Sansa Airlines fly?
Sansa offers daily flights between San José (SJO) and top destinations like Quepos/Manuel Antonio, Drake Bay, Puerto Jiménez, Tamarindo, Nosara, La Fortuna, Liberia, Tortuguero, and more.
Is booking with Pura Vida Traveling more expensive than going directly to airline companies?
Our prices come directly from airlines companies. Typically, our prices match what you'd pay if you booked directly, though sometimes they may vary slightly. We aim to align our prices with our providers' rates whenever possible to avoid overcharging. We offer the added value of personalized assistance in English, French, and Spanish, plus we help coordinate your full itinerary (transfers, tours, etc.).
How far in advance should I book my flight?
We recommend booking at least 5 days in advance to secure your preferred schedule. Early bookings (10-15 days in advance) are highly recommended during peak season.
When should I arrive at the airport?
Arrive at the Domestic terminal (next to SJO International Airport) at least 1 hour before your flight. For other domestic airports, we recommend arriving 45–60 minutes prior.
What is the baggage policy?
For flights operated in Cessna Grand Caravan: you have included one piece of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 30 lbs./14 kgs and maximum dimensions of 45 inches / 114 cm. (length + height + width). Baggage Allowance: Extra charge: $1.50 per additional pound The baggage allowance may vary if you buy any of the SANSA promotions and will be subject to the policies of each fare. If there is no space on the same flight to send your luggage‚ we will send it on the next available flight, and it will only be transported to the destination airport. SANSA is not responsible for sending luggage beyond the airport stations. Hand Luggage You can transport as hand luggage only one piece of luggage with a maximum weight of 10 pounds/4.5 kg and 20 inches/50 cms (length + height + width). In addition‚ each passenger can transport in the cabin‚ under their custody and at no additional cost, the following items: - Woman's handbag. - Reading material. - Infant food to eat on the flight. - Coat or blanket. - Camera or binoculars. - Laptop. In case of space limitations or excess maximum weight‚ you may be asked to check your baggage.
What is the cancellation policy for domestic flight?
Our tickets are nonrefundable under any situation. Schedule modifications with more than 10 days before the flight with a penalty fee of $30. With less than 10 days‚ but more than 72 hours in advance have a penalty fee of $50 per passenger‚ per change. Within 72 hours before the departure of the flight changes are not allowed. These conditions apply to all fares available for SANSA.
What is the cancellation policy for private charter domestic flight?
Cancellations made 33 days before the trip will be penalized with 20% of the amount paid. Cancellations made between 30 and 14 days before the trip will be penalized with 60% of the amount paid. Cancellations made between 0 and 13 days before the trip will be penalized with 100% of the amount paid. In the case of not showing up on the day and time of the flight, it will be penalized with 100% of the amount paid. Reimbursements will be done according to the paragraphs mentioned above, after the presentation of the flight coupon in our main offices. The charter is not refundable when it must attend to preferential obligations, such as the transfer of sick or injured persons, due to bad weather, or for any other cause for which it deems the suspension necessary, for passenger safety or to protect the Company's interests.
How can I make changes to my booking?
You can contact us directly to modify your booking by sending us an email at support@puravidatraveling.com We’ll work with our Partner airlines to accommodate any schedule changes as best as possible. However, changes may be subject to provider availability and potential fees.
Can you help me coordinate transportation to or from the airport?
Absolutely! We can arrange private or shared shuttles to match your flight times.
Can I travel with my sports equipment?
You can check sports equipment as an extra piece of baggage (in addition to your baggage allowance)‚ it may be subject to oversize and/or overweight charges‚ as well as subject to space availability. It is allowed to carry one item per passenger with a charge from $40 USD per way plus tax. (the cost of each item may change) The allowed equipment is the following: 1. Fishing: 1 rod‚ 1 pair of boots and 1 net 2. Golf: 1 bag with up to 14 clubs (up to 62 inches)‚ 1 pair of golf shoes‚ 12 balls (all secured inside the bag). Golf clubs may only be transported as checked baggage. 3. Diving: 1 air regulator‚ 2 rubber fins‚ 1 unloaded conventional harpoon‚ 1 mask‚ 1 rubber suit‚ and 1 weight belt. May only be transported as checked baggage. 4. Archery: 1 bow and arrows‚ packed in a suitcase designed for that purpose. May only be transported as checked baggage. 5. Ski: 1 pair of skis‚ 2 poles‚ boots and shoes. May only be transported as checked baggage. 6. Bicycles: 1 bicycle is accepted in a case with the following measurements: 107cm high x 107cm wide and 60cm deep. Subject to availability of weight and space. Tires must be deflated for transport. 2. Surfboards Dimensions: 6.7 ft maximum length Quantity: Subject to availability for the total amount of the flight Fare: Surfboard charge is $40 per way. Handling: Surfboards are not part of the baggage allowance and are subject to space on the plane. Helpful tips when packing your surfboards 1. Clothing or other items are not allowed inside the package. 2. Damaged packages or those that do not withstand handling are not accepted. 3. Damaged boards are not accepted. 4. We recommend transporting the boards in individual cases for better protection. 5. Fins must be removed You cannot transport as part of your baggage: 1. Windsurf boards 2. Kayaks 3. Scuba tanks 3. Recommendations 1. Carry all valuables (money‚ jewelry‚ electronics‚ etc.) in your hand luggage. 2. Identify your luggage with the free tags provided at our counter at the airport. Include your name‚ address‚ and telephone number where we can reach you if necessary. 3. Avoid charges for overweight or oversize bags by complying with the established limitations. 4. File any claim for damage to your baggage before leaving the airport. SANSA is not responsible for minor damages (scratches‚ wheels‚ etc.) caused by the normal handling of luggage or by excess weight in it. 5. Do not transport perishable food. 6. When claiming your luggage‚ do it by the tag number and not just by its appearance. 7. Do not transport sharp objects such as knives‚ scissors or tweezers as they will be confiscated by airport security. 8. It is not allowed to fly with any type of weapon‚ flammable liquids‚ corrosives‚ explosives or aerosols. 9. Airport security does not allow you to enter the waiting room with containers containing any liquid with more than 100ml. Dogs and cats are allowed with a charge of $52 each way and must be transported in a secure container (kennel)‚ they can have a maximum weight of 40 kgs and are subject to space on the plane. Must have a vaccination card for the pet or the pet must show signs of good health.
Traveling with children and infants
Children under 2 years of age have a 100% discount on the adult rate without the right to a seat or baggage allowance. A folding baby seat may be allowed if space in the cabin allows it. Infants who require a seat will pay Infant fare (restrictions apply). In this case‚ the baby carrier can be carried in the seat except during takeoff or landing‚ as long as the airline's safety requirements are met. All Infants must have a ticket in order to board. Infants under 7 days will not be boarded without a medical certificate and must indicate that they are fit to travel. Each adult may transport only one infant. Minors under 18 years of age must present their respective identification‚ in the case of Costa Ricans they must present their minor's ID or birth certificate issued by the Costa Rican government in the case of minors who do not have the minor's ID. In the case of children under 12 years of age‚ they must travel with one of their parents‚ otherwise they must present a letter made and signed by their parents‚ authorizing them to fly with another person.
Are flights safe and reliable in Costa Rica?
Yes. Sansa Airlines is ICAO-certified and has operated safely for over 40 years. Delays can occur during bad weather, but flights are generally on time.
