Usage Data is collected automatically when you use the Service, and may include your device's IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data. • Necessary/Essential Cookies — required for core site functionality.

  • Analytics Cookies — help us understand how visitors interact with the site (e.g., Google Analytics).

  • Advertising Cookies — used to deliver relevant ads and measure ad performance (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Pixel).

  • Functionality Cookies — remember your preferences (e.g., language, previously viewed pages) to improve your experience.

You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent, though some parts of the Service may not function properly without them.

How we use your information

We may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • To arrange and manage your travel reservations, including bookings for tours, transportation, accommodations, and activities.

  • To communicate with you about quote requests, itinerary planning, transportation requests, and booking confirmations, by email, phone, WhatsApp, or SMS.

  • To process payments for services booked through us.

  • To provide customer support, including responding to inquiries submitted through our contact, quote request, and transportation request forms.

  • To send you our newsletter, where you have subscribed. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every newsletter email.

  • To improve our Service, including analyzing site usage trends and the effectiveness of our marketing.

  • To comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, property, and safety of the Company, our customers, and the public.

Sharing your information

With Travel Suppliers

To complete your reservations, we share the information necessary to fulfill your booking with hotels, transportation providers (including shuttle and bus companies), tour operators, airlines, car rental companies, and other travel suppliers involved in your itinerary. These suppliers use your information to provide the services you've booked and are responsible for their own handling of your data once received.

With our Booking and Reservation Platform

We use Rezdy, a third-party reservation system, to process and manage bookings and to securely transmit your booking information to relevant suppliers.

With Service Providers

We share information with service providers who help us operate our business, such as payment processors, analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics), and email/newsletter platforms.

Affiliate Relationships

Some pages on our website — including recommendations for rental car companies (such as Adobe Rent a Car), hotels, and tours — contain affiliate links. If you book or make a purchase through these links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This does not affect the information we collect about you beyond standard website Usage Data.

For Business Transfers, Legal Compliance, and With Your Consent

We may also disclose your information in connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or asset sale), where required by law or valid legal request, to protect our rights and the safety of our users, or with your consent.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

International Data Transfers

Pura Vida Traveling operates in Costa Rica, and our service providers and travel suppliers may be located in Costa Rica, the United States, or other countries. By using this website and our services, you understand that your information may be collected, processed, and stored in Costa Rica and other countries where we or our service providers and suppliers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your home country. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely wherever it is processed.

Data Retention

We retain different categories of information for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Quote requests and general inquiries: retained for a limited period after your inquiry is resolved, unless you become a customer.

  • Booking and reservation records: retained for the duration of your trip plus a reasonable period afterward, to handle any post-trip questions, disputes, or legal requirements.

  • Invoices and payment records: retained as required by Costa Rican tax and accounting law.

  • Newsletter subscriber data: retained until you unsubscribe.

We will delete or anonymize your data when it is no longer needed for these purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, update, or request deletion of the personal information we hold about you. You may also request that we restrict or object to certain processing of your data, or request a copy of it in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. Please note we may need to retain certain information where we have a legal obligation or legitimate business reason to do so (for example, completed bookings and financial records).

Security of Your Personal Data

The security of your personal data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is intended for adults making travel arrangements. However, because we regularly help plan and book family travel, we may receive information about children — such as names, ages, and passport details — when a parent or guardian books a trip that includes them. We only collect and use this information as necessary to arrange the relevant travel reservations (e.g., for airlines, hotels, and tour operators that require this information), and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data outside the context of a booking you made, please contact us so we can address it.

Contact Forms and Newsletter

Our website includes several forms through which you may submit information, including:

  • Quote request forms

  • Transportation request forms

  • Itinerary planning forms

  • Newsletter sign-up

Information submitted through these forms is used to respond to your request and, where applicable, to arrange the services you've asked about. If you subscribe to our newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any newsletter email.

Links to Other Websites

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites not operated by us, including supplier and partner sites. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content or privacy practices of third-party sites.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
